Koala Centre Philosophy

Noosaville child care and preschool centre – Koala is a place where children can come to have fun, laugh, discover, explore, experience, experiment, be challenged and make treasured friendships.

  1. Children
    • Children are seen as; people, competent, confident learners, friends and teachers
    • Children’s inherent connection to the natural world is encouraged and celebrated where they have the opportunity to explore all natural elements without restriction.
    • Play is children’s work. Where appropriate play will be child directed, challenging, interest based, freely chosen and fun.
    • Children will be encouraged to explore friendships through our buddy system.
    • A play-based learning program will be provided which is designed to stimulate children’s love of learning, discovery, exploration and social concepts.
    • Children are encouraged to make choices about their day and make treasured friendships.
    • Children will feel safe, secure and supported in an enjoyable environment.
  2. Families
    • Partnerships between staff and families are developed and valued.
    • Family consultation will be encouraged and facilitated to review centre policies, practice and philosophy
    • Children have the opportunities to develop partnerships across ages and spend time with their siblings
    • Families and the community are encouraged to actively participate in the centre’s daily activities and in their child’s learning
    • Every child and their families will be treated as an individual with dignity and respect.
    • Mutually respectful, honest and trusting relationships between children and adults will be the aim of all interactions.
  3. Staff
    • Staff aim to achieve excellence in their role as educators and nurturers, thereby earning the respect of children, families and other professionals within the community.
    • Children will not be discriminated against as recommended by the UN convention on the rights of the child.
    • Staff will work in partnership with families so that we can provide the best care for each individual child.
    • Mutually respectful, honest and trusting relationships between all Team members will be the aim of all interactions.
  4. Community
    • The NCC&PC Community is defined as children, families and staff will facilitate and provide an opportunity for families to connect and feel a part of their local neighbourhood.
    • Work in partnership and network with agencies in order to support children, families and our staff.
  5. Environment
    • Children’s inherent connection to the natural world and the outdoor environment will be encouraged and celebrated.
